Have you ever had those days where you just wake up and wonder what you are doing with your life? Don’t you feel like there is something missing? Maybe your job sucks and you want a better career. Or you don’t have anybody to share your thoughts and deepest feelings with. Even the rainbows look black and white on such a day.
When your life is not going where you want it to go, when everything starts crumbling down, when you hit rock bottom, you start pitying yourself. I have had such moments. In fact, every morning is a struggle to understand what my life’s mission is. Whether I am on the right path or not?
If you think that it’s only you and everybody else have sorted their lives, think again. It’s the same with everybody. The friend who drives a BMW while you still commute by bus has his share of problems too.
I know people who regret looking at Facebook pictures of others. I’ve been guilty of this many times as well. Looking at the party pictures, surfing in Bali, hell they even look better on Facebook!
But last time I checked, Facebook images were not an attribute when measuring ones success in life. Most of the time, all we see is the brighter side of one’s life. Why? Because who wants to publish images of crying alone in the bathrooms or fighting with their partners. Nobody wants to share the unhappy moments in their lives (except for those lousy break up posts!).
But we all are sad sometimes. Facebook does not love you and their goal is not to make you happy. Their goal is to make money. So stay away from Facebook as much as possible (and every other social media). Rather, read a book or listen to a podcast. Do something creative.
Life is uncertain. That’s the beauty of it. It just happened to be like that. Us trying to figure out everything beforehand sounds nice; but it will never work. On the other hand, it does not mean that we have to just let life go.
If you want to have a fulfilling life, first step is to take responsibility for your life. It took me 25 years to understand that I am totally responsible for my life. If my job sucks, I am responsible. I can’t blame the company or my manager. If you hate your job, you have the option to join another company. If you’re not happy about your life, you need to start taking control of your life.
So take a good look at your life. Sit somewhere comfortable. Grab a note pad and a pen. It’s always good to think on paper. It gives you formation and clarity. Do a reality check and see where your life is. Write down where you want to go and where you are now. Don’t let the mind run wild. Put your thoughts on the paper.
Once you finish that, get yourself some goals. Maybe to learn a new language, or to play a musical instrument, or even to start your own website like Jump.lk. There are 4 months left in 2016. On the 31st of December 2016, when you look back at your life, how do you want to feel? Do you want to be the same person you were on 1st of January 2016 or do you want to be an improved person?
Choice is yours my friend. I know I can look back at my year happily on 31st of December knowing that I created Jump.lk. I hope you’ll have something too. Be happy and love your life. Live with passion!
P.S. If you want more inspiration, keep reading Jump.lk
